RMweb Premium petethemole Posted October 6, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 6, 2014 If you don't like Lego, look away now. I went to the Great Western Brick Show at STEAM at the weekend. There were some amazing models and set- pieces on display covering a wide range of subjects, but I thought I'd post some of the trains here. First a couple of Australian narrow gauge locos: Part of a large display of Victorian London showing the construction of the cut and cover Underground: The display I liked best was Corfe Castle Station, with a table of locos and rolling stock next to it. Signal box They appeared to be having a diesel gala: Tornado visiting: And some of their steam locos: I have some others but haven't processed them for posting yet. If there's any interested I'll put them up. Pete

Ozexpatriate
Is the tapered boiler on that King really LEGO components? My 'other' avatar.
Jaeson Lego Pryer
Yes every part of the locos, wagons and coaches are lego. He also has a flickr account so you can see more of his work on there. Thanks Jaeson
Ozexpatriate
I'm curious to know what components were used for the boiler. I can see what components were used for the firebox and the smoke box, but the tapered part of the boiler doesn't look like any component I am familiar with. RMweb Gold Ryde-on-time Posted October 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 8, 2014 The models shown above can be found by searching for the web for 'Bricktrix' He has a flickr account and more photos of the GWR castle can be seen here https://www.flickr.com/photos/bricktrix/sets/72157629016823127/
Titan
I think that upon close inspection the boiler is not tapered, but is made of four of these angled downwards towards the front slightly to give the impression of taper: I believe that they are then covered with green vinyl as this brick does not appear to have been made in dark green, which also hides the gaps/joins - you can see a little ripple half way along which is probably where there is a join underneath. I bet if viewed directly from above the boiler would appear parallel.
Talltim
Carl (Bricktrix) is a member here too. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/user/19691-bricktrix/ I think the Castle's boiler is an optical illusion, not actually tapered but just four of these with vinyl for boiler bands, which hides the joins Edit: beaten to it by a few seconds!
