To help modellers, clubs and groups to flag up their layouts available for exhibition I've created a database. Simply enter the relevant details by clicking on Add Record - http://www.rmweb.co....t_database.html

There will be a permanent link above this forum to the layouts entered.

Clicking on an entry in the list will bring up further information.

The CMRA (Chiltern Model Railway Association) also provide this --> http://www.cmra.org....utregister.html

I don't see why layouts can't be on both.

Yes, good idea & I'll probably add Tormouth Quay to the list shortly.

But  .  .  .  .

.  .  .  .  have to mention that Adrian Hall has had a similar register (eLayouts) for a few years on his UKMS website.

Wouldn't want anyone accusing anyone of plagiarism.

It looks all skewif on my iphone, the first layout listed appears to have lots of photos in super size instead of one for a header?

I have put my two layouts on, but why has it come up different to all the others.

Andy,

Will there be some ability to sort / filter the entries (e.g. 'N' gauge, GWR) ?

It would be good to be able to add a home location and maximum distance  - as much as I'd like to take Shepherds to Scotland - it's a long, long way...)

Yes, this is a great idea - Kanjiyama duly added. I would agree with Stubby's suggestion of a location field as well...

This is a great idea, although I think I little tweaking needs to be done on the layout/formatting... I'm not sure if it's because I'm viewing on a mac rather than a PC, but I seem to get a bit of a jumble of oversize photos and find it difficult to just scroll through to get an overview of all the layouts in the database? It's a bit hard to tell where one layout ends and another begins...

But great idea nevertheless... It's one of those ideas when you wonder why no-one thought of it ages ago(!)

I've added mine, and I'd like to echo the sentiments that this is a fantastic idea. :)

Though I do agree the formatting and such is a bit hit and miss. :)

Good idea Andy - how about one for layouts that never leave the loft but welcome visits from other RM Webbers?

I know it is early days ... but a separate section for modules (and the rules they follow)? That is, once we start having meets and a module has been shown to be compliant and works?

Thing is, how many people have layouts in their houses and are happy to invite strangers round to see them? I am happy to invite people I know round to see Bacup and have a play but if I was to receive random PMs asking to come round from people I hadn't met, if I am honest I would have to say no and it would put me in an awkward situation. Maybe others think differently?
