class"66"
Ive found the Ratio signal ladders to be very "brittle". And just snap,so im using the metal ladders off old "Hornby" signals instead. Plus this also makes the signals have bit more strength too...

7APT7
Very nice mate I'm not sure if Ray is LMS though I think he may be SR.... I wouldn't know if there were any differences as I'm not into semaphore signals, but like to see them being made... Jamie

class"66"
These two books are very helpful for making "samphores"...lots of pictures to use. Good information...
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted December 11, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2014 Hi Neil, Looking good but ... The one with the home and distant on separate dolls (posts) is wrong - it either needs another distant under the home (to make a splitting distant), the distant replacing by a home (to make a junction signal) or the distant moving to be under the home (to make a combined stop/distant signal) but this would mean the bracket is wrong so the least favoured
micknich2003
Beast, has always well spotted, I never noticed. Just to prove us wrong here are two "Real Life" examples, and I know of at least two others.
class"66"
Ok "Beast" that's great information!! wil sort this one out now, Do you mean this signal?? Cheers neil..
Lochinvar
Good move, making use of the Hornby gantry. I've almost given up on trying to assemble the equivalent Ratio product. Not only are the girder sections more flimsy than I expected, but getting them secured squarely to the 2 platform sections requires skill that has eluded me so far. The whole thing seems to lack rigidity. DR
class"66"
Yer no what you mean mucklebackit, they are tad bit fiddley, and parts snap off to easy..
Moggs Eye
I know it's a bit late, seeing as you've already put the hard work in, and the models look great, but you can improve the appearance no end if you use Model Signal Engineering etched brass arms on the Ratio posts. The lamp spectacles on the arms are open so you can fill them with a film of PVA which dries clear and can be coloured with OHP marker pens. It's always a pleasure to see semaphores being added to a layout. Good work.
class"66"
Thanks for your post Moggs eye, wil look into the brass etches. cheers neil..
