Robin Brasher
Wrenn W2224 8F hauling a mainly Hornby Dublo goods train at the Purbeck Model Railway Group's Highley layout at Godlingston Manor Stables, Swanage. I had hoped to report that it could haul a long train but it set off the safety cut out after 12 wagons.
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted February 12, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2015 Is this a totally Wrenn layout within the Club? Phil
Robin Brasher
No. It is a test track using Peco track.
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted February 12, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2015 Oh I see. I know there are HD and Triang layouts on the 'circuit' I don't think I've see a 'Wrenn' one though. I've still got quite a lot of Wrenn; not the collectable stuff but all in very good condition. I'm reluctatnt to move them on, but I suppose a collector might enjoy them more, as mine are just stored away of course. P
5050
You can't have a Wrenn layout without one of these! Wiring it must have been an interesting exercise!
Fat Controller
You can't have a Wrenn layout without one of these! WrennCrossing.A.jpg Wiring it must have been an interesting exercise! I bought a whole lot of Wrenn pointwork from Frost's stall in Llanelli market back in about 1969-70; I soon discovered that the fibre sleepers and steel rail weren't compatible with a damp shed.... Robin Brasher
In the 1950s Wrenn used to make Universal 3-rail track which was more realistic than the contemporary Tri-ang grey track and Hornby-Dublo track. It enabled people to run Tri-ang and Hornby Dublo on the same layout. I wonder if any layouts using Wrenn Universal 3-rail track survive.
5050
This is an interesting read - However, my Double Junction isn't shown or listed. Anyone need any info?
Il Grifone
1668 The Double Junction was one of the later additions to the range. A price of 36/- comes to mind but I may be wrong on this. This might be useful when they finish setting it up. http://www.gandr-wrenn.co.uk/catalogues.htm

Golden Fleece 30
I have just bought this Wrenn and Gem TT track layout. All plain track is Wrenn with the points being a mixture of both. All points, bar two, are operated with H and M point motors. A little work is needed in a couple of places though. roythebus
There were some decent Wrenn OO points in the shop at Robertsbridge Station a while ago, VGC and not too dear either. Maybe a few lengths of track too.
