It's coming!

Personally for myself and LNER modellers may I suggest

Something similar to the HMRS Gold LNER sheets , nowadays they are very poor suffering from serious alignment problems. Not covered on the sheet are White/Black  Mudholes Ovals and Circles lining shapes, White/Black Lining for Tender Fronts and Rears,  White wheel lining for Drivers and Bogie wheels, for Pacifics and Atlantics in particular .

All lining shapes/lines mentioned above  are needed in Red as the HMRS sheet has hardly any shapes and are very opaque and poor adhesion . All the current Red lining from other companies are all much too wide, about 0.5mm would be perfect if viable?

many thanks !!

Amazing service as normal from Steve at Railtec.

Purchased Bachmann class 40 D210 in all green to repaint ends for D200/40122 in 1980's guise.

Emailed Railtec on the Saturday to enquire about bespoke set, by Friday morning reply received telling me that they are released and ready to order, by Tuesday after they were on the door mat waiting - just over a week for something that wasn't in the catalogue.

Also, these are my first set printed with the new process - great quality, my only slight concern in the past has been that the backing film was sometimes slightly visible, no more - these are perfect and easy to apply.

Some photos of 'the old girl' on IC Charter stock, of interest old numbers and nameplates were removed using the Sharpie pen method in the Skill section on RMWeb, much better than scraping or using thinners and for numbers very quick.

Two years ago I enquired whether it would be possible for them to produce some custom "Norsk Hydro Fertilizers" transfers to go on some Minitrix N Gauge curtain sided wagons that I was converting. I provided a suitable picture for them to use and they were ready to post three days later. Very impressed indeed!

My transfers for a Bachmann 3F are currently being applied and I have just one problem: the 3D smokebox number plate will not sit down, it has curled up and refuses to lay flat. Any suggestions?

Probably a bit late now !!

I had the same issue with some nameplates, but I found that wetting the backing paper and letting the water soak upwards to the transfer, as opposed to submerging the whole lot in water, gave far better results, with the transfer staying much flatter.

I also managed to flatten out a nameplate that I'd submerged in water, and put it back on the backing paper, then weighted it down (with a Humbrol paint tinlet !!) while it dried, before stating again. With success on the second attempt. :)

Cheers,

Phil.

I never soak transfers in water.

Put a piece of folded up kitchen paper in a saucer and apply enough water to make it damp, not wet, lay the transfer on top, (backing side down obviously), then it is very easy to pick up the whole lot and slide the decal off the backing directly onto the rolling stock.

As usual there is an absolute stack of new releases to share - quite frankly that many that there hasn't been the time to socialise most of them anywhere other than on the Railtec site itself. However, so many folks have asked about this one that I need to make a flying visit to let folks know that packs for gWr 43093 Legends of the Great Western are now available, with the optional add-on of Old Oak Common HST Depot 3D waterslide nameplates.

2mm and other scales will follow. I'll try to make time to share some of the highlights of recent and imminent releases very shortly.

Usual disclaimer applies re workload / emails for custom work etc (http://www.railtec-models.com/workload.php).

Whilst I had the shrink ray handy I also applied it to 47813 in its ROG livery, which has the nice level of colour vibrancy in its (filmless) main logo:

A lot has been happening since our last post. There's the usual 100+ new items released which span our spot printed conventional 2d, pioneering 3d waterslide, chrome, metallic, filmless and dry rub-on range, but there's something even more noteworthy and ground breaking. Those who visit our stand at Warley this year will be able to see and hold an example of something which is quite possibly a world first and another pioneering step forward in our hobby from Railtec. The 3rd phase of our technology will be unveiled, which will turn heads and potentially be a huge help particularly in the lucrative respraying and kit-building industries. Those who come to the shows and chat to us year after year will know that we place an encompassing focus on our own product and our customers, and offer the best that technology can achieve. The 4th phase will come online in 2018, but more on that later!

The image may be un-blurred by visiting the stand in the Small Suppliers area at Warley. Or if somebody takes a photo and decides to socialise it before we get the chance to do so after the show!

"I've tried the others; now I only use Railtec." Pete Waterman, OBE DL

"Wonderfully accurate, well researched, technically superb, simple to apply, impeccably printed. For D&E you can find no better." Tim Shackleton, Hornby Magazine

After another superb Warley show, we're delighted to announce phase 3 of our state-of-the-art technology. We have a never-ending passion to continue to innovate, advance the hobby into the 21st century and help modellers by offering more choice, more quality and more tech.

94792b_1000px.jpg

This may look like an ordinary CCT van, but it is not. It is in fact a first sample prototype of what we believe could be a world first.

So what's the fuss?
This is not so much about the livery or the model: these of course have been done before. It's the concept. Railtec has bent new technology to create true factory RTR models in small or mass batches in whatever livery, all with different running numbers and with whatever other unique markings we choose. This side shows 94792; the other was done as 94239 simply as a test. (Having been born/bred in Manchester these battered Red Bank parcels were always a favourite and so a great choice for a first test). Essentially this means the process of respraying and transfer application are done automatically to a factory standard that may well be the envy of many resprayers.

The roll-out of this new tech is going to be very carefully managed. We're still beyond capacity with demand for existing and new transfers: this will not change. The transfer catalog will continue to grow at around 400 new product lines each year to help the modelling community with more choice and more quality. We will in tandem gradually start to release limited edition runs of specific models, liveries and running numbers. We already have the first subject in mind and this will be revealed in the fullness of time. In the meantime however we wanted to share this new opportunity with the community as a taster of what is to come and what is now possible.

Exciting developments indeed Steve !   I look forward to seeing more about this as it develops in the future ....especially the costing side.  Some pro re-finishers are gonna be pretty upset me thinks !  Could also make L/E models/liveries a thing of the past ?

Regards

Ken
