hartleymartin
After seeing a thread about building a model of Captain Baxter on a Dapol Pug chassis, I've decided that this is what I can use my sevenscale pug chassis for. I bought it as part of a pile of detailing bits and pieces for quite cheap about 6 months ago, and now I've got a serious case of loco-build-itis happening!A full drawing isn't necessary. Some leading dimensions would be extremely helpful and I can guesstimate the other dimensions by scaling them off photographs. Thankfully Captain Baxter is a popular locomotive with lots of photos on the interwebs.Useful dimensions - any of these would be appreciated if they are known.WheelbaseWheel DiameterLength over headstocksHeightCab heightBoiler LengthBoiler Diameter
hartleymartin
Some guesstimated dimensions from photos:Wheel Diameter: 3'6" Wheelbase: 7'6"Length over headstocks: 19'0"Length from rear bufferbeam to fron cabsheet: 4'8"Length of side-tanks (from back of cab sidesheet to front of tanks): 9'3"Height of side-tanks (from footplate): 3'3"Width of smokebox (measured at base) 3'10-1/2"Centreline of boiler (from footplate) 22"Width of cab and side-tanks: 7'6" The biggest discrepency with the chassis I intend to use is that the wheels are smaller (3'1") and the rear axle is forward of the prototype by 21". I'm okay with this as I think that Captain Baxter looks a little ungainly with the large wheels and the rear axle so far back. It's only going to be a "sketch model" anyway.
