RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 6, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 6, 2018 C17045 what does a Tunnelhilfwagen (tunnel auxiliary wagon) do? And what are those circular objects on the ends - ventilation fans? The seem to have grilles over them. They are basically breakdown/rescue vehicles, ones labelled for tunnels are to be used in incidents in tunnels. I don't have any details for the individual wagons. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 8, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2018 Rhatische Bahn again today. The first two are at Rhazuns, just south of Reichenau Tamins on the line to Thusis and Filisur. The three taken looking down into the Rhine Gorge were from a very narrow road I drove along, with little in the way of crash barriers or fences. I was very glad I didn't meet anything and would not really like to drive along the road again. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 14, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 14, 2018 Ah yes, the other RHB Keen observers notice the small pegs between/besides the track. These are loading gauge markers, meaning that stock between it and the points fouls the loading gauge from the other track. So they're actually fouling point markers as they're well inside the loading gauge in some cases - or are there meant to be two different types I wonder? RMweb Gold DaveF Posted January 16, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16, 2018 Before I post today's photos I have to make a statement about this thread. It is going to take a break, so I won't be posting photos here for a while. For a number of reasons since the late summer I've simply not had time to prepare any more photos and caption them, I have now run out of the stock I had done earlier. I intend to resume the thread in due course. My apologies to those who look at the photos each day. Now for the photos. We are still in north east Switzerland, this time at Romanshorn by the Bodensee. RMweb Premium melmerby Posted January 16, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16, 2018 No need to apologise Dave. Anybody who takes photographs will know how time consuming it is getting them all organised. I'm always amazed how you have managed to keep posting a steady stream of pictures. I await their return Best wishes Keith

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 16, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16, 2018 HI, Dave. I just want to thank you for the lovely European photo's which I have so enjoyed looking at each day. I understand how time consuming preparing and captioning photo's can be, and I look forward to when you are able to resume this thread. Best regards, Rob. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted February 3, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) I haven't forgotten this topic, I do still have a lot more photos to use but simply haven't had time to sort them out and caption them. Hopefully I will be able to post some more in the not too distant future. Meanwhile I've noticed that as indexing has proceeded the photos in the posts have reappeared.
