And going back to the grilles - the 3 piece ones are removable - but guess what? Sercks are not! Body shell is a different moulding with integral louvres.

To revive an old thread, a we saying to renumber 47148 as a pre TOPS blue loco 1547 and 1569 are the only suitable ones

Were and any locos dual braked with three piece grilles other than first 20

 

The first 20 received the air operated Serck shutters when converted to dual brakes, which for all of then was one they were repainted into rail blue. 

 

The Serck shutter mod was primarily to stop the rads freezing up at high speed in winter and when shutdown as on dual braked locos the coolant drain tank that was in the machine compartment was removed to make way for no2 compressor.
