Satan's Goldfish Posted May 8, 2015 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Over the last month, myself and 'Wombatty' of Warren Lane fame have taken a couple of trips to Felixstowe to be massive container geeks. On the first trip back in April, we saw lots of activity at Felixstowe central terminal and a relatively busy Felixstowe South. Felixstowe North was virtually silent despite being the UKs largest rail container terminal! With any luck i'll get some pictures and videos up (and persuade the big Wombat to upload his too) at a later date. We had the aim on the first trip of seeing Felixstowe North's locomotive traverser. We failed, overshot first of all, then over shot even further in the opposite direction! So a little google earth research was carried out and we went back a couple of days ago, and hit it first time! The wind was up so no cranes were running anywhere on the port but lots of loaded trains were arriving following the Bank Holiday weekend so this time Felixstowe North was full by the time we left. We were fortunate enough to see 2x Freightliner 66s make use of the traverser....... I want one!
