RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 29, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 29, 2015 Mine arrived on Thursday, and another on Saturday but I was out and had to collect it from the sorting office this morning, I only ordered one! The second one had similar box damage to Big Jims, the first had a very clean cut in the end flap of the box but in both cases the contents are intact. I notice that the helicopter in the original list doesn't appear on the paperwork with the crane, I didn't want it anyway. Some of the other items such as the low loader and the stacker IIRC were also in the Stobart lorry series.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 29, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 29, 2015 The Cl.66 will be a static model right? No one seems to know, the information is ambiguous at best. The illustrations show it with the Bachmann couplings.
robf
What sort of delivery times have people experienced? I ordered mine online on the 12th of June and not had a confirmation of delivery email as yet. Thanks.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 29, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 29, 2015 I sent off the postcard that was in several of the model railway magazines for June. That would be about one month ago and it did say delivery would take 28 days. I received e-mail notification about a week before it was delivered. Did you order on line or by post? from what I gather ordering by post is quicker but it might be that the postcards were not issued until stocks were ready. robf
I ordered it online, along with the Eddie Stobart Volvo Fridge Trailer.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 30, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 30, 2015 Apparently as Stobarts have more than one low loader the new one will carry a different registration number and name to the existing model.
hammy
Hopefully but I'm sure in all the bumf they send it has the same name

Hopefully but I'm sure in all the bumf they send it has the same name As advertised it was 'Nicola Melissa' fleet number RV232, it has now been changed to 'Lily Jean' fleet number RV233. Apparently it had been changed after the circulars had been printed.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 9, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 9, 2015 I see that someone is already advertising on e of the long arm excavators on embay for £25 plus postage That seems to be a common price on e-bay. There is about 30 now advertised ranging in price from 99p (newly listed but bound to go up) to one at £64 BIN!
RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 7, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 7, 2015 My low loader has arrived, very nice it is too, im hoping that once i get it off the plinth the trailer will extend, if it does then i will add some rails to it and pose it as a loco/carriage delivery truck, i have a handy GBL mallard and duchess doing nothing
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 8, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 8, 2015 My low loader has arrived, very nice it is too, im hoping that once i get it off the plinth the trailer will extend, if it does then i will add some rails to it and pose it as a loco/carriage delivery truck, i have a handy GBL mallard and duchess doing nothing Mine arrived a couple of days ago, only thing is it is secured to the base by those dreaded triangular headed screws. Another model I have seen inn Stobart livery and might be from the same series is a 'sliding bed' recovery vehicle that is sometimes used to carry smaller items of rolling stock. RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 11, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 11, 2015 managed to get mine off its stand with the end of a pair of scissors and the trailer does indeed extend interestingly enough, underneath the tractor unit... with the trailer extended it fits a carriage/unit nicely, adding rails would make it look spot on managed to snap an exhaust top off but i can glue it back on no problem, the only thing i cant do is remove the tractor unit from the trailer really pleased with it now i know it extends

Looks great extended with the unit on top. Mine arrived last week but I haven't had time to have a play with it yet. I think I've got some triangle screwdrivers to get mine of the base, somewhere.... Doosan Daewoo Mega 300-V next month. Cheers
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 11, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2015 Mine is still on the base but I've loosened the securing screws. This is because they are often screwed down so tightly that it leaves 'flats' in the tyres that can be very difficult to remove.
Merfyn Jones
I believe that Stobart Rail use their low loader units to move heavy plant to and from railway work sites. I have never come across any being used to carry railway stock, this being the job for the likes of the specialist heavy haulers like Alleys. I think the use by Oxford & Atlas of a trailer that is longer than the ones Stobart has lead to the wrong impression on their use. Merf.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 11, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2015 In the bumph that came with mine was a card with a picture of machinery being carried on a detachable goose-neck trailer.
tamperman36
Got mine last week, the extending trailer is identical to the standard oxford model ( I ve got one of each now). I recently picked up an oxford leaflet showing forthcoming releases, one thing shown on it is a Komatsu 360 excavater with a standard size arm, I would believe this will be based on the same base unit as the long arm stobart machine. I am thinking of getting another long arm machine to convert into a demolition machine with a set of jaws instead of the bucket.
hammy
Mine arrived and is identical to the Oxford one I brought two years ago oops big Jim if my memory serves me correctly the trailer detaches if you quarter turn the trailer so that the trailer and tractor look like a L but can't remember which way
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 11, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2015 The Atlas Komatsu is not made by Oxford but by another manufacturer. I now have three of them, two directly from Atlas and one obtained at a swap meet for £12, like Tamperman I am going to fit one with a set of jaws as a demolition machine. Airfix are producing a series of 'damaged buildings' in unpainted resin in 00 scale for wargamers and I am looking at these to see if they are suitable to be used as a building under demolition.
