Whether you’re young or young-at-heart, our show will offer plenty of entertainment. We have Windmill Hill, a layout that children can drive, and other interactive attractions (including colouring in using non-toxic crayons and model kit building), among many railway layouts and displays; plus, a selection of trains, books and other items to buy. Also, children's author, Simon Hall, will be joining us over the weekend. There will be over fifteen layouts including: Gordon's Lane, Gravesend West, Lanscombe Lawn Railway, Lenham, N in a box, New Bridge Street and Swanswell NSE; plus a good selection of traders and societies. Close to the A2, Ebbsfleet station and Bluewater, our venue has: Free on-site parking, a regular bus service that stops nearby, wheelchair access and the usual friendly atmosphere. Adults pay £5 while Children (Under 16), accompanied by an adult, continue to join us for FREE. An extensive range of hot and cold food and refreshments will be available; plus on Sunday we will aim to serve roast dinners with all the trimmings between 12-2pm: Beef, Turkey plus a vegetarian option. Ebbsfleet railway station is only 17 minutes from Central London, 10 minutes from Stratford International and Gravesend railway station is 11 minutes from Dartford. Northfleet School for Girls is about 2-3 minutes’ drive from the Northfleet turn-off from the A2. Bus routes 481 & 483 serve Gravesend town centre, Ebbsfleet station and Bluewater shopping centre and stop near the school on both days. This is the 47th Gravesham Annual Model Railway exhibition organised by the Gravesend Railway Enthusiasts Society; and the sixth at the fully accessible site of Northfleet School for Girls, with free parking on site. Close to the A2 and Bluewater/M25, there will be over 16 model railway layouts in N, HO, OO and O Gauge; over 10 trade stands and a few preservation/society stands - including the Class 315 preservation society. There will also be a children's author, with occasional readings, sketching demonstrations and competitions; plus a children's activity area. There will also be 'a load of balls'. Not sure what that entails, well there's only one way to find out. Hot and cold food and drinks will be available; and the infamous roast dinners during Sunday lunchtime. All of this for just £5 for adults and free entry for accompanied under 16s.

The full postal address is: Fort Pitt Grammar School, Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham, Kent. ME4 6TJ Chatham railway station is only 40 minutes from Central London, 33 minutes from Stratford and 21 minutes from Ebbsfleet International – using the frequent high speed ‘Javelin’ service. As usual, we will offer a good number of visiting model railway layouts in various track gauges covering both steam and diesel eras – and not just British trains! This year there are: 18 different exhibits including a new children’s layout owned by the Gravesend Railway Enthusiasts’ Society (GRES) and a (tiny) T Gauge layout, both making their debut at this exhibition, as well as a working lit funfair and science-fiction related models; 14 different trade stands selling a range of items, not just railway related; 2 stands from preservation societies – Thames & Medway Canal Association and Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway. So, plenty of fun to entertain the young and young at heart, as well as a chance to enjoy hot and cold food freshly prepared by the school caterers plus a selection of refreshments. For the second year all money collected from our raffle will be going to Guide Dogs, who we are proud to support again in 2016. Guide Dogs not only train assistance dogs for visually impaired people, but their aim is to ensure people who are blind and partially sighted can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else. The charity do not receive government funding so they rely on public generosity to fund their services - and visitors to the show are asked to give generously. Dave Kent of Guide Dogs, who has appeared as the face of Guide Dogs in publicity material and television adverts, will officially open the show with his guide dog Chad at 10.30 on Saturday (2 September). Dave is a model railway enthusiast and is again looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of the show. I’m proud to say we raised £350 for Guide Dogs last year.
