Bachmann 6-Pin DCC Decoder

Bachmann 6-Pin DCC Decoder

Postby Tommy307 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 12:41 am

Hi all,

Am I right in thinking that this is a brand new product from Bachmann?
I am pretty sure I've never seen them anywhere else before, and after seeing them pop up into the "New Releases" section on a certain online retailers website I am thinking that they are.

I'd be interested to know how people get along with them as it may finally provide the N gauge equivalent to the ?8 Hornby chip. It would probably allow me to DCC my Dapol Voyager too (at last). I am not expecting huge things from it but would be an easy way of DCC'ing non-powered cars for DCC control of lights on DMU's and such at a pretty cheap price, compared to other chips.

Sorry if I am hugely mistaken, but like I say I've not seen them anywhere before.

Tom N.

P.S. If anyone does look at the pictures on Hattons, would you agree that the packaging for this chip seems a bit excessively big and bulked out. I thought there was a big eco-drive (ironically?) on where companies and manufacturers were cutting down packaging for their goods. May just be me thinking wrong again.

Hi

I think you will find they have not been released yet, like a lot of things in the Bachmann/Farish Cataloges

It's on various retailers web sites as being in stock, so it's definitely been released. Don't know how advanced or configurable the drive control is, but with so many multiple units now available in N - 150, 156, Voyager, 108 etc we need something at the lower price range for the dummy units to control the lights.

It is definitely released - I got a couple at the weekend at the Mcr show.

Unfortunately personal circumstances mean I am unlikely to be able to test them in the near future.

The packaging is pretty small and certainly an appropriate size.

If no use for motor drives then will get used as fn decoder.
