Club Open Day 2012

Well, another open day has been and gone, and it was a pretty successful day. As with our previous two ventures, the 'not an exhibition' format worked well, with a more informal atmosphere to the day, as well as giving the opportunity for some work to be carried out on some of the layouts.

Sadly the planned GWR 00 shunting layout could not attend, but was ably deputised by a small 009 model.

Here are a few pictures showing what was happening.

Track laying was completed on Warehouse Yard, a new US switching layout set in 1950s Milwaukee.

The US theme was continued with a slightly more modern take on the switching theme...

Familiar initials, but thus far the closest this LBSCR has ever got to Brighton was probably Milland village hall!

Something a little more familiar; Yamanouchi Oshika has given an exercise...

More scenic detailing has taken place in Erwaldt...this is looking really good, and should be completed by early next year.

My own offering - Kanjiyama - has experienced some delays and still has quite a bit to do to complete. Hopefully this should be more or less ready by early next year... Annoyingly, I forgot a couple of the buildings..hence a couple of gaps!

Thomas stepped in on the 009 model to save the day when the resident railcar developed a slight fault.

Finally, something for the future. Petworth Town, 1890s LBSCR (the proper one!) in West Sussex. Still early days, but initial research is underway
