Caledonian or Highland? - an update!

Hi all,

Firstly many thanks to all who commented on my last entry, I'm still not very conversant with these bloggy things so updates will be seriously slow!

Well, I did a fair bit of reading on the Scottish railways and I like them all!

I found a photograph in the book "Scottish Branch lines" by C.J. Gammell (OPC), of an overall view of Macduff - and fell in love! Here was the picture perfect, modellers BLT. It has a short platform, overall roof, freight and loco facilities and is set on a hillside that is quite plain above and below so is really ideal for the modeller!

It is a former Great North of Scotland station and while I do quite like the little 4-4-0's this line was famous for, I'm not actually sure that I would want to devote the large amount of my modelling career required to do justice to modelling this little station in pre-group days.

My problem is that I get distracted by other things so very easily and new projects come along too quickly, maybe I have the modellers equivalent of ADHD?

Anyway, I feel that I am not able to do justice to this project, my passion for it has already dried up unfortunately. I would like to propose it as a future project for my club but, who knows? So, if anyone out there is looking for a really nice project for a smaller station that should be easily manageable, feel free to investigate further - it could be just what you're looking for!

Cheers,

John E.

Scotland has so many gorgeous terminals like this, all so modelable. A great boost wouldbe a rtr Caley 0-4-4T. I was hoping that the likes of Harburn Hobbies could sponsor one much as Kernow did with their Beattie Well Tank amongst others. With options for three liveries, plis different funnels there is plenty of variety. They were also seen allover Scotland from passenger duties on the Cathcart Circle to the Killin Branch and many other branch lines in between and also pilots at stations from Glasgow Central to Kyle of Localsh. I wrote to Harburn a few years ago-sadly with no response..
