One step forward ....

blog-0082016001370647800.jpgThat is the way it feels at the moment.... Have made some very big steps in the last two days but these have thrown up new issues. What I have managed is all the track is now laid and it is all wired up albeit in a rather messy fashion. I have run my first trains. However..... These trains have only run on DC, when I connect DCC there seem to be several shorts whicj is really strange as the slow running on DC is actually really good.

Other big issue is that I have decided that I cannot live with my mess up with the location of the second set of points and will have to relay all the track on that board. I think that it will just compromise the whole feel of the layout if I leave it as it is. I may also have to dismantle the approach to the traverser as there is a distinct hump which is not good. And finally I am not happy with the arrangements (or lack of them), for track alignment at the baseboard joins. Actually I have not finished yet - also not happy with my idea for locating baseboard feet into the side beams - although I have shortened the tangs it still needs a hefty lift to disengage then which is fine while there is no scenery it will be another matter once there is more to damage.

Nothing above is unsolvable of course and have already got a few ideas.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a shot everything together before I had to give the kitchen back (I do acknowledge that I was extremely lucky to get away with this for three days!), but here is another shot of the back of the boards. blogentry-16008-0-92843200-1370647412_thumb.jpg A job for another day is to significantly tidy this lot up.

Got a busy weekend ahead. Tomorrow I am off to the 7mm Narrow Gauge show at Burton on Trent so if anyone else is there please do say hello - I should be fairly easy to spot as will have my 7 year old daughter with me and from past experience of these events I know there won't be many of those around! As long as we don't get too carried away there we will then be off to Glyn Ceriog where the GVT Trust are having a bit of a do.

Sunday is an airshow day but Cosford or Welshpool - an awful choice!

Thanks for that, makes not feel so guilty! At least it proved that everything does work but I was in Maplins today getting switches and did fall for some coloured wire!
