DCC Meltdown

blog-0674757001371153898.jpgHave rewired the first and second boards now and I am sure you will agree that they are a lot prettier. Have been thinking about the control panels and think that rather than having switches for each point, I shall have route switches that will select all points on that part of the loop which should drastically reduce the chances of running into a close point.

Obvious question here is why don't I just use DCC? Answer is two part: 1) I just prefer the idea of a route panel and 2) My DCC has stopped working!

Yes, a bit of a disaster and a warning for the future. It is a NCE Power cab and when I plug the handset in it goes into the start up screen then switches off and then goes into start up again. I t is almost as if there is a constant short but it does it even if not connected to layout (which works fine in DC). Any ideas anyone?

I shall be on the various DCC forums later and if this fails back to DCC Supplies - it is less than 2 years old and has only been used a handful of times as up to this point I have not had a layout!

Oh, and finished undercoating the figures.

I made a route diode matrix for some passing sidings and still landed up with as many switches!

I like your board construction.

Think you are right here as will probably cut the switch count down by only one but the chances of running into a closed point will be just about zero so think it will be worth it!
