Introducing......Hunslet week!

Still flushed with success at actually finishing something last week I have decided that the intense approach is a good one to try in sorting out my large collection of kits into working locos. So, I have come up with Hunslet week - next week (which should be fairly clear work wise), I am going to focus just on my Chivers Hunslet 4-6-0 kit and see just how far I can get in a week. It would be great if I could finish it but just getting it running to test track would be good.

I thought this kit was a good one to start with as I have made one before which went together very nicely but not wishing to make life easy for my self I do want to make a few improvements. blogentry-16008-0-15900100-1371944267_thumb.jpg.

This little lot is what has kept me quiet for a couple of days as I want to build the chassis as fully compensated which is something I have not done from scratch before. I think I have finally worked out the best way to go about this now.

So every day next week I will report on the days progress on turning this little lot..blogentry-16008-0-48995900-1371944433_thumb.jpg into a working loco.

I have only had the kit a couple of months so pretty near the top of the pile. The kit is beautifully cast and the level of detail fittings in white metal and an awful lot in lost wax brass is brilliant. I have been collecting together the other bits and pieces I need (which does add up quite considerably so have got; A Mashima 16:30, a Branchlines 80:1 multibox (should be a great slow runner), Branchlines flywheel, Wheels from EDM and finally hornblocks from MJT.

Look out for the first progress report on Monday!
