Hunslet Week - Day 4

KH1

Have not had a great deal of time to spend on the Hunslet today but have just made a late rally with the soldering iron (turned right down!), and now have at least half a body,

The quality of the castings really shone out here as it all slotted together pretty perfectly. Actually it is not all soldered up yet as need to detail the cab back sheet so this is just nicely slotted in for now. If you look very hard you might just notice (I have lightened it in PhotoShop, the perfectly sized speaker nestling in the tank all ready for some serious DCC Sound. Forgot to mention yesterday that I picked these up at DCC Supplies when I was getting some brass for the equalisation bits. Also picked up some Vallejo acrylic paints suitable khaki tones for the figures. Have not tried these before but the military modelling magazines I have looked at seem to use them extensively so must be worth a try.

Getting a bit more body in place is actually a very good idea as I realised late last night on fitting the motion bracket in place that it would foul the proposed compensation beam to the bogie (easily sorted with a file though), but want to make sure there are no other issues going to arise.

The 'Vallejo' series are very good - with a huge range of colours & hues.  I found their 'German Orange' an excellent brick colour for use on the 'Netherley' station buildings (based on 'Tilehurst GWR')(see the 2012 comp entry under a different avatar!)..  They cover very well.
