Hi,
It's been around a month since the last update and again we have been suffering with time away from the build, but in a good way, as we had a group trip to the Wigan show (which was outstanding, a big thanks to all those involved in that) and our group had a layout at Middleton Railway in Leeds this weekend.
Retaining Wall
Our original design has now been tweaked and converted from a Sketchup file into a native format that a laser cutter can use. After a few cutting sessions we now have enough parts to start putting the wall together. Here are a few shots of the main wall pieces roughly laid up (there is a top section to the wall not shown here).
Front Fascia
We have also been able to spend another few hours working on the Fascia boards for the front of the layout. At the moment we are fitting 6 1/2" high by around 4' long sections, which will later be profiled to match the terrain on the scenic boards. We currently have 3 of the 5 boards completed, but two of these are the more difficult curved boards so on balance the hard work is done. Here are a few pictures of the Centre board with the Left Hand Curved board.
Cheers, Mark.
