Layout in the office

blog-0332267001378941245.jpgNo pictures tonight I am afraid as far too late for that sort of thing and I have been playing with money making pictures all (well most!), of the day so have had enough of them! Anyway, in little gaps when I have run away from the computer I have made some progress - sort of. Have cleared the accumulation of junk from one side of my office (oh the joys of working from home!), and have installed two of the base boards so I can do some scenic work. Ok, problem one - I really don't think my leg system is going to work. Trying to erect the thing by myself in a relatively small space is just not going to be possible without serious damage to the finished article. Solutions - design better legs, and or get some help! Have put them on some very basic B+Q trestle legs I have for now and are much simpler so maybe this is the direction I should take. Second problem is that the track gaps at the base board join are horrendous! I think some of the foam board underlay has come unstuck and some seems to have sunk - major engineering works are needed. Third thing is that the soil ballasting on the two boards looks completely different! Am sure I did it the same way but the second one is far better than the first. Guess I was just learning but will have to be sorted out.

Aside from the tribulations have done more pretty straight forward stuff on the field kitchen and is almost finished. Have also fitted proper crank pin nuts to the Hunslet in place of the wire insulation temporary jobs it has worn for two years. Actually a very time consuming job as having learned from experience you have to test run after fitting each one as is all too easy to over tighten these and lock up the mechanism. Of course if you do them all in one go you don't know which is the culprit. Have now also worked out how I will fit the couplings, again not straight forward. I am using the rather good Zamzoodle choppers but they do require a hefty amount of work to get right but they do look good!
