Hello again :)

The holiday break hasnt been nothing but parties and stuff. I have managed to get a little done...

I managed to get a few wagons built, they still needs couplings, weathering, and some need glazing too..

Secondly this has been on my mind for a while and i seemed a good opportunity to scratch build one, no doubt when its finished it will find its way onto a wagon...

Finally some bits I have actually manged to get Shapeways to print...!

Some universal joints, so far so good but how long they will last is another question...

...and following on from the GW self contained wagon buffers, here are some GW square shank coach buffers...

Very nice Julia.

Would I be right in thinking that the road tanker is for milk rather than the less edible contents of your previous tanks?

Thanks Andy.

Yes, the plan was its a milk tanker, although I have noticed they were used for beer too.

Very nice Julia. Will those coach buffers be available to others? Also was the Toad from a Kit?

Hi Julia,

Wonderful work as always!

I notice that you have drawings of the milk tankers (presumably for a ROTANK) - where did you get those please as it will mean I don't have to crawl all over the one at 81E!

All the best,

Castle

Hello Nick. It all depends upon the chief shopkeeper, that and the fact they need to be checked to see if they are any good first!

Hi Don. As above really, plus I am not 100% convinced these will be strong enough to be useable by anyone. Time will tell, tat plus I eed to get them onto a coach to test them out!

The GW brake van is the one available through the association, I believe its a CH etch.

I was advised that the best option for working (ie. load carrying / transmitting) components was to specify a nylon 3D print.

Not got my components yet to confirm or deny the efficacy of the advice!

This morning I primed one of the sets of the coach buffers (Julia kindly gave me a couple of sets to try) and have just cut one off the sprue (nice new scalpel blade and very light pressure!). The remains of the sprue were cleaned off using a sanding stick and I must say that I'm really impressed with them, delicate as they are.

Next job is to finish the Siphon underframe that they'll be fitted to!

Happy New year Julia, brilliant stuff as usual. I particularly like the little milk tanker, what are the origins of the wheels?

Nice work Julia.

The milk tank looks superb! I'm looking at the possibility of 3D printing for the ends of my cement vee-tanks.

Happy new year to you (and Kim) too. The wheels came from one of those Japanese coaches you see all over the place. I picked it up at a recent toy fair for

Years and Years ago Geoff Jones won the Willis Cup for an injection mould to produce black plastic U/J's (these were in the Association shop fop a while). This was before Geoff moved into smallholding in Lancashire when production ceased. What chance he can find the mould (and time) to resume production or is it (and the plastic) a victim of H&S? Fortunately I still have a couple of sets in my stock - which says everything about my loco output!!

I do like the UJ - is the end view of the recess something like this?:

Has something happened to your Avatar? Looks a bit fraught.

Ah, that's what those wheels are for!

Yes :)

:yes: The milk tank looks great !!

Thank you, it was my little Christmas Holiday project. It just needs a wagon for it to sit on now.

Same character, I just fancied something a little different.

Thanks for the UJ screen shot. What are your:

- wire shaft diameter;

- UJ ball diameter;

- UJ body diameter.
