Not Missing the Point

blog-0252913001393119393.jpgHalf term and not a lot has happened - well not on the railway anyway! Lots of entertaining little person which included Zorbing on a pond, a fruitless search for the crash site of a B17 and (although were weren't going anywhere!), a few nights in a lovely cottage right in the middle of Hay - on - Wye with all it's bookshops.

 

In my one chance to get anything done I am afraid I got completely bogged down with a single tarpaulin - will recount this soon. For now though I will share with you the fact that sometimes it really is taking a bit of trouble over things. If you remember, I spent quite a long time replacing the KB scale point levers with brass arms. I don't know how it happened but here is one of them;

In it's original plastic form this would have broken off completely but as it is now brass will just bend back (a few times anyway!). Makes me feel a lot better about all that messing about!

You have got me thinking now - why stop at at bendy PB' why not a hologram of the real thing! And why stop at point levers - scary but 3D printing taken to the extreme!

To answer a previous question in a previous post about how I made the brass levers - here goes. First thing I must point out is that they are not working, although they certainly could be. Secondly, they are mostly the KB Scale plastic kit but I have replaced the actual lever with a more resilient brass item.  To do this I took some brass strip and blued it, in truth, although I have a big bottle of engineers blue (Chronos Engineering Supplies), which will last me a life time is I don't spill it!), I used a pen meant for writing on CD's (
