One end finished

blog-0250781001395703372.jpgI was very strict with myself today and made myself finish off the panel and all the associated wiring rather than charging off and doing the other end! So, all the LED's are in and tested and the two points on this board all wired up and working properly.blogentry-16008-0-47927800-1395702448_thumb.jpgblogentry-16008-0-41898000-1395702449_thumb.jpgblogentry-16008-0-29172200-1395702450_thumb.jpg

I have also doubled up all the wiring to the push in terminals just to be on the safe side and fitted a D connector for the lead that will double up the control of these points to the other end. I did wonder if things might go a bit more smoothly if I used network cables and RJ45 plugs and sockets. Cables are cheap or can be easily made and you can get double sockets. The downfall of this plan though was that the cables only have eight wires and as I need five for each point it would have to be one cable per point. With the fifteen way D connectors I can get three points on one cable so less spaghetti but more soldering. Keeping up the good work I also made up all the extra brackets I will need to mount the sockets from aluminium angle and a very noisy session on the milling machine.

So here is the finished panel in situ

Have also made a start on wiring in the points on the next board - although I am sure I am getting quicker it is still taking an age!

Now why didn't I think of writing the identity of the wires on the underside of the layout? Off to buy a marker pen.

It is a good idea if you write the correct thing on it - I have just made a complete hash of labeling loads of wires!
