Sproston- modelling again at last!
Well it's been a long (hot) month, since there was any noticeable progress on Sproston, and I have also been on a full week of nights. (Destroys me...)
My time previously had been occupied with fitting the loft interior out, with large quantities of double sided aluminium foil roll, with a fire retardant fibreglass layer inside it.- I am hoping that this may go some way to solving the huge temperature fluctuations that have been experienced this Summer, whilst also keeping it more comfortable in the coming Winter months (fingers crossed that it works!!)
This task was made all the more difficult as the layout could not be moved - so I was forced to fit the foil with Sproston "in situ"...Great fun, but at least it was done with no damage...as usual, I had managed to put the cart before the horse!
Thankfully all is now completed. - and I have removed the last of the splinters from my hands!!
Now where were we... oh yes, have been trying out some removable backscenes ( well actually they are sidescreens!!) that I have made to try to "frame" the layout. This has become important as a result of the foil fitting now looks like the exterior of NASA'S L.E.M. up there!! everywhere is very bright and shiny!
Have added some more greenery here and there, (mainly to disguise errors)and some low stone walls ,many things on the "to do" list still, including point rodding ( will do it when I've taken some "brave pills") .The platform canopies (Wills) the telegraph pole route (and wires?) and the lineside fencing, all awaiting construction and placing.
Need to increase the population of Sproston, fit some uncoupling magnets under the tracks at strategic places and finish the signalbox too...
Now waiting for my new Bachmann 57' brake third to arrive, to keep the blood and custard all third (that can be seen in a couple of the photos) company
Hopefully more to report next time.
Regards
SIGTECH.
