Vosper Motor Torpedo Boat

next up for my layout was something for the harbour, i wanted a ship and instantly started looking at battleships, these where clearly far to large. so i decided on a vosper motor torpedo boat.

the Airfix kit was a great little kit to build, i would highly recommend this kit. i haven't really built any airfix kits since i was a child so this was a nice build.

this will be perfect i thought but, if i want my layout to be of exhibition standard then i need to go over the top on detail. well today i finished the motor torpedo boat.......

and finally this is captain John Styles looking out to sea, named after my grandfather who was a officer in the navy during WWII

If the MTB were in harbour, I would think the guns would have canvas covers over the breeches and not be manned ?

The Navy were also very keen (just like the Army) on painting stuff...... would there be rust staining on the torpedo launchers  etc.?

I agree with the rust staining, I went more for effect, a little bit of modellers licence,

The plan is to have the boat in the harbour but preparing to move off which is why the captin is looking out to sea.

I learn by my mistakes.

Very nice model, I had one of these many, many years ago along with a Revell Vosper MTB (same scale),but an earlier type of boat, with only 2x21" torpedo tubes and two twin 0.5 browning m.g's in turrets each side of the bridge and a single barrell 20mm oerlikon cannon on a gun platform behind - plus 4x depth-charges near the stern. This one pictured is later, about 1942/43

Think the Captain is more likely to be on the open bridge??
