I don't have a Duette , so can't check, but is the 16Volt output AC or DC ? 

I would always recommend use of a CDU to minimise the risk of point motor burn-out.  I have successfully used a Gaugemaster unit with an old H&M Safety Minor controller.  Instructions at http://www.gaugemaster.com/instructions/cdu.pdf
