I am shortly to start building my station building. It's going to be loosely based on Llanbrynmair, in a mirror image, with the house on the left as viewed from the platform. I've had to reduce the size of the station building to fit the space available, but I hope to capture the feel of these ex Cambrian stations, other nice examples being Carno and Caersws. I particularly like the decorative barge boards at Llanbrynmair, so I'm going to experiment with methods of making them. I have considered getting them laser cut, but this is expensive for a small job, and I'm thinking of doing them with microstrip. I'm going to experiment with doing the glazing with the shapes of the windows and bars printed onto adhesive label paper, stuck on thin perspex, painted and then cut with a scalpel, to get crisp, accurately aligned shapes. The perspex will form part of the structure with all the windows facing the platform on one of three pieces.
