Converting an old Triang well wagon

After picking one of these up ages ago at a swap meet for pennies I thought I would have a go at updating it.

Re-wheeling

Having read a few threads on here about replacing the old plastic or metal wheels on these things or using Cambrian etc kit bogies , I had a rummage in my bits box to see what I could do.

I had an old broken Mainline bogie wagon and realised I could use the bogies and after some cutting , part of the chassis for the mountings.

So the old Triang bogies were drilled out and I got rid of the big plastic mounting underneath and with a bit of trimming the Mainline mountings fitted just right ;

You can also see I have removed the well section to give a bit more depth to the well .

Oh yes, I had (have) one of these. Very robust, and carried all sorts of vital machinery/Matchbox cars, lego, tanks etc in its day. But a decent body and worth an update
