Some help with DCC!

Hello chaps!

Well, the time has come, I can hide no more, but to keep up with the times I need to look into the world of DCC!! Nothing complicated, in fact all I require is a way of testing locos before sending them to their new homes.

In essence all I need is a straight bit of track where it's possible to test for sound and control. Primarily for steam locos, but for the option of diesels and their world of options!

I know there is a plethora of info on line and in forums, but sometimes it's just easier to ask the question, what do I need!! Not so much from the loco point of view at these parts will be supplied by the customer, but more the operating side to make it work!

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi there.

I was a DCC novice until this summer.  I had a couple of O gauge locos converted to DCC and bought one RTR.  This was (mostly) a happy experience.  More detail here:

I got an NCE Powercab which is just fine for 4mm or modest efforts in 7mm.  The degree of control is astonishing and the sound is adictive.  Happy to help if I can.
