And now on with the next big build - the Avro Lancaster B.I (F.E)

Another of Airfix's New Tooling's and my first Lanc in over 35 years and compared to the Shack, she's proving to be quite a straight forward build..

Note I have added the Eduard Zoom photo etches in lieu of the the transfers supplied for the various instrument panels..

Also having a short wing span than the Shackleton means I can fit the wings prior to painting - I won't fit the engine nacelles or tail fins as it makes masking far easier.

Lanc coming on very well. Airfix certainly produce some very detailed mouldings now, compared to the past. Up with Tamya etc imho.  The Shack looks great with the props on, just going to have to get one!  I was going to hold out and see if a MR3 came along, with the tricycle undercarriage but having seen your pics of it on the ground the MR2 looks like the one to go for.

The problem for me is having enough space to display a large model, my largest one is a DC3 that's been in a drawer for some years..   but I think I can hang one up in a corner of the loft over the layout.

Please keep posting about your aircraft, they are very encouraging with your great paintwork, and very informative about the kits themselves.

I hope Airfix produce the Shackleton MR3 at some point (I suspect they will, as the Shackleton has proved an extremely popular aircraft)

Keep your eyes peeled as another blog entry is coming... ;)
