Shack Attack - Another Big Build: Part 2 - Revenge of the Shack, Chapter 2
Finally after what seems like an age, I'm making a start on Revell's take on the Shackleton - though in this case it's the MR.3 (Phase 3 version).
Which means for those not in the know - Nose wheel rather than a tail dragger, wing tip tanks and in the case of the Phase 3: 6 engines...
Forget following the instructions, each side of the fuselage is made from 2 parts - I decided to glue the two parts of each side together and using the bomb bay roof & wing spar section to ensure everything lined up, while the glue cured.
With the halves cured I busied myself building up the interior and adding weight to the nose - the instructions say 30 grams, I doubled it!
Now as you can see there's a circular hole underneath where the tail empernage goes, having going through the instructions and sprues thrice - there's no mention of it (must be from the AEW kit).
So I filled it up using styrene & Perfect Plastic Putty..
With the interior painted - I used Airfix and other references for the interior colours, rather Revell's. I installed the glazing.
Far less interior than Airfix's
With the interior weathered using Tamiya Weathering Powders - the cockpit & rear cabin were glued in place (no tape needed either).
One last look at the interior, before the sides are glued together..
I only needed Tamiya Low-tack masking tape to hold the sides together while the glue cures.
Flashback to the AEW build - I deployed Insulating tape.
Finally with fuselage sides together, I checked the CofG..
I'm pretty much there with nose weight - I can still add more if needed
I may get some building done, but I'm waiting for some aftermarket to arrive for her
