I took the decision to sell off a lot of stock and re equip the new layout with BR blue era stock. This was what we grew up with living in Monifieth (which is on the main East Coast Line between Dundee and Aberdeen) I spent many days travelling on trains between Arbraoth and Edinburgh using a handy mini rover ticket which cost ??6.50 for 1 week unlimited travel! It also included Perth. My brother (taybridge) has also posted his layout Glasgow George Square on this site which is of a similar time period.

Previously I had a mixture of current stock (Virgin, Scotrail etc) with visiting preserved stock. This funded the purchase of enough locomotives to run on my planned depot. In addition I bought a Lenz compact controller. This was upgraded to Bachmann Dynamis to allow more control of loco CVs. This has proved to be a much better controller and I like the wire free facility. Like all 'budget' purchases it has it's limitations as you cannot read Cvs etc. For my layout requirements it is perfectly adequate at present.
