It would be a shame. Here are 2 suggestions - 1. sell on ebay to raise funds for mkII, 2. chisel out track. Cut thin ply to trackbed size, re attach to board with new track.It would be a shame to skip such a lovely model.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your input. I think you're right that it really would be a shame to lose such a turning point in my modelling! You may well be right about redoing the track. Now i've heard about DAS modelling clay and know how important flat, well layed track is, it might well be a viable option. It's a tough choice. I have always much prefered the original small version of Calshot without it's two extensions too as it looked more balanced than its current form plus was easy to move around. I guess it's a shame that the three baseboards are fixed together with wood nails and glue rather than removable coach bolts. (Another lesson learnt!)

 

I'll be learning to drive in a few months :blink: Where does the time go?
