46. Sorry for cluttering up the Blog lists.

Please accept my apologies for cluttering up the list of blogs.  Re-numbering my posts is an attempt to get them back in date-order, as 'editing' to restore the lost photographs then puts the post at the head of one's list, and so quite out of date sequence.

I am very sorry for the temporary dominance of the 'front list', and assure readers it is not a crude attempt to 'bump' interest.  I look forward to reading far more worthy entries from others as soon as possible.  Thank you for your tolerance.

Hi C126, Don't worry, it has been happening to all of us bloggers to an extent.

One tip if you want to get things back in some sort of date order. When you edit a blog there is a bit down the bottom that gives a publish date , or a publish now box which is ticked by default. Click on the publish date box and a wee calendar pops up. This lets you backdate the blog so they all appear in correct historical order.

Thanks @Dave John for your kind comments.  I had not noticed it in others; posts, so thought it was just me and my usual ineptitude.  Why my post no. 45 is way down the list I have no idea.  I will try and get them back-dated a.s.a.p.  Many thanks again.

I fell foul of it too - the fault is not yours but is in the software.  I think the 'publish now' box being ticked only appeared with a recent 'upgrade' and I hope the old method of retaining the original date will be restored.  I now check the original date before I start replacing lost images.

It only occurred to me last night that, as you describe, I have now lost all the original dates of postings.  Sometimes one can only despair of I.T.  A 'Railway Hermitage' looks ever more attractive...

Thnaks again for everyone's kind words and responses, and best wishes to you all.

I also fell foul of the great train photo robbery on here - so thanks for putting the effort in. I haven't done all of mine as I did a lot on railmaster and I have now moved onto iTrain but you have inspired me to get back into it

Thanks, @deepfat , for your kind words.  I realised a couple of weeks ago my albums are now incomplete as well - the very reason I joined RMWeb to 'preserve the information for eternity' - so was feeling rather down about it all.  Hope to start replacing these next weekend.  Thanks for intending to do yours.  I am sure it will not just be me appreciating your efforts.

Never trust the web - its run by 'other people'.  Many people entrusted their photos to websites that have since disappeared.

I keep all my posts as PDF files on my own computer, which is backed up to network attached storage (NAS). My son also has a copy of my backup disks at his house.  Having said that, it's only for my own memories and I expect everything will go into a skip when I'm no longer around.

@mikeOxon I help run the web as I work on Azure for Microsoft in the UK we haven't lost data per se but user error is problem whether you are software engineer or a consumer.  So I still keep my stuff on a qnap server and my blog posts are in OneNote.
