Trial build of a trestle

To fit Rospeath Lane into my current car I've calculated the trestles need to be less than 3" (75mm) thick when folded flat. On paper it looked achievable, but before this project progresses too far, I thought it wise to test the theory.

Jake the peg trestle

Using a three leg design allows the single leg to be interleaved within the two main legs. It needs a chain or rope attached to stop the legs splaying out. I'm also considering whether the trestles need some levelling devices adding to the legs.

So far so good

With a three legged trestle you would only need to put adjustability on the two outer legs. Twould make levelling relatively easy.

How big are the sections of baseboard, the lighter the baseboard the lighter wood used for trestle. (to a point cant go too flimsy)

True, but until I know for certain about how much space I'll have above the boxed layout in the car I'm reluctant to add any type of levelling device. As a backup thought, the use of different thicknesses of plastic shims might have to be the option.

The baseboards are 4ft x 3ft but an odd shape. The plan is for the trestles to support two L or U shaped beams with a couple of legs at the back. Supportstructure.jpg.53ea318e06078be97008568bc778ecd0.jpg

For levelling builders merchants or ebay sell packs of assorted plastic wedges fairly cheaply .
