A CR D37 twin wagon build part 3
The D37 wagons were paired and coupled together with a shackle of which there is a drawing in the wagon book. The idea was to keep the buffer faces in contact when running similar to a screw coupling. Long sections with pins through the coupling eye and a short loop in the middle.
This is my attempt at it. The buffers are on very soft springs, actually a bit of pb strip from an old clock escapement, the shackles are wire with a pin soldered to just the shackle. The centre loop is copper wire for now. I have had it on the track for a test, it does seem to work and the buffers stay in contact on curves.
Some basic paintwork done, beginning to look like wagons.
They are rather light so I think a weighted load is needed. A section of ductwork, possibly for something marine with some lead inside.
Final painting and assembly next.
