A CR D37 twin wagon build part 4
The D37 wagons are now in service. An official portrait photo, the buffer faces do stay together when running.
A shot catching a bit of evening light.
A more elevated photo. I think a load like that would have some scrap timber blocks to hold it central. Cloth, perhaps old hessian sacks with a squadge of grease underneath the load. Some of the same above to prevent the chain damaging the paint. The turnbuckles are just brass wire, but to make the chains taut but still a bit flexible for curves I added a couple of links of EZline elastic.
A final shot with the stanchions raised. Very fiddly to do with the wagon on the track, really has to be on the bench and done with tweezers.
Sorry to be a bit long winded and generate four blogs on a simple wagon build. Some closing thoughts. Nothing about that build is really complicated and I was asked to provide more detail. I’m sure others produce much better models but it shows that just sitting down at the bench and making things is not really all that difficult.
