Thoughts on Scenics
I'm nearly ready for the Workington Show. I've built the trestles, finished both baseboard tops, and the carry case ends. Although the Tredethy Wharf front curtain is about three inches too short, it's long enough for now. I can alter it later. I'll complete the second support beam this weekend. Display wise, the only items that will be missing will be the back of the right-hand Cassette board and the back screen. Oh, and probably the LED lighting. On Tuesday, one or two Scalefour guys plan to visit, so the idea is to test erecting the layout on its supports during the day.
Anyway, while I've been out walking the dog I've been thinking about the proposed idea of presenting the layout as an early Autumnal scene. Also, what trees would be suitable to model and recently posted my thoughts about trees for the layout on my Rospeath Lane Blog.
Subsequently, I’ve been on Google maps Street View and printed a few shots of the proposed location. In doing so has given me a couple of further thoughts and amendments. These will have to be mulled over while the layout is progressing. On the tree front, it’s difficult to identify the trees but one tree which I’d like to include but might not be appropriate is a Silver Birch.
Proposed location is between the main line and Red River.
