Sorry. Been quiet. Lots of Gundam building. Almost endless Gundams. I have a problem...
Some new locos brought in. 'New' largely being a relative term.
Firstly, the only truly new loco. Hornby Sentinel, bought when RoS dropped them to about $80
No problems with it. Very quickly decided I didn't want it after all. Sold it on locally.
Next, a used Patriot I bought to sort-of justify the shipping of the Sentinel.
I actually like the unrebuilt Patriots a lot. I can also justify one from my self-imposed '32-'33 cut-off for LMS equipment. Older tender-drive model. Runs okayish. Could use a lot of refinement. Probably later, after I play with something else first.
Third, an 'outsider.'
Sorry, I didn't get a very clear shot. LNER C12. Don't know the provenance. Bought it cheap with another loco locally. Felt light for a kit, so I thought brass? Ran fine the one time I've tried it.
Fourthly, and just in last night;
Caley 944. TMC sent me a GBP10 discount on a GBP100 order, and had this in stock. Fits what I like, so I went for it. Runs pretty OK over my test track. Haven't sorted why it sits so odd, though. And fitting my preferred Kadees is going to be fun. What looks to be a brake reservoir goes right about where I'd want the coupler. Normal draft box would foul the trailing wheel, too. Might have to get creative.
At the same time I bought the C12, I also picked up a whitemetal LMS 0-4-4 of some kind. When looking, I didn't have a pic of it handy. I'll make another post when I get a shot.
I also picked up a Hatton's/Accurascale Andrew-Barclay 16". No pic handy again, but I do have video;
Now the fun part is I'm switching to DCC. These kitbuilt models, and the old Patriot, will be learning experiences. We'll see.
