(32) Blue Mover

The point mechanism for the fiddle yard turnout has now been installed, apart from the wiring.

As previously mentioned, I used a 'Blue Point'. I have had several in stock for some time. In this application it makes a lot of sense because the turnout is very close to the operator, so I can see the position of the point blades very easily.

It serves the only turnout on this baseboard. Had I used a conventional point motor, I would have to bring extra wiring across the baseboard joint. The installation was more or less as per the instructions. I simplified the installation of the operating connection slightly,  as this is straight and short - no need to guide the connector or prevent it from distorting.

The yellow plastic tube slides inside the fixed red tube. It operates a very robust DPDT switch, which operates a lever connected to the tie bar on the turnout.

Here's the view from the top of the baseboard. I just need to trim the operating pin a bit.

Isolation gaps and wiring are next. Then I can test with a loco and (hopefully) sign this baseboard off for the time being.
