My class 37 project in card

After quite a few years from modelling I have made a start again, only I'm working in O gauge as the detail is easier to see in my advanced years below I'll endeavour to take you through the build, although getting carried away I forgot to take photos of progress regularly.

These 4 photos show the early stages of construction, the  components were designed using Inkscape, an open source design program which I use to design the parts to be cut on my Silhouette Cameo. The card is 1,5mm obtained at my local

'The Range' store. Two layers being laminated together makes a very sturdy construction

I constructed the bogies using sheet and 12mm strip brass, I marked out the axle positions on the strip and drilled them ready to accept the brass top hat bearings which were then soldered in and the whole  soldered up the wheel sets inserted and then  some 1mm brass square tube across to add rigidity. These have been to a plywood base by bolting through with M6 brass bolts and nuts . the fuel tanks were made up with card , unfortunately no photos of this stage but photos of the finished model hand painted using Cornish Milk mineral paint, I've used this on previous models and found it really stiffens the card and dries without brush marks.
