Another celebrity today...

James Hilton

Twice this month - celebrity visits to Paxton Road! Had a tip off that it might be worth heading down, so nipped out over lunch.

However I expect 33108 wasn't happy to be there - dumped by 33202 earlier in the day she's failed and waiting collection. Arriving at Paxton Road I grabbed a few shots from the road bridge before walking down to the yard and looking for someone to ask permission to grab a few snaps.

After I'd been given the nod (and a high vis) I grabbed a few shots from the yard before heading back to work.

33108 is a Heljan model with end detail, weathering and the bogie spring mod - otherwise out of the box. Getting her out reminded me of what a good model the Heljan 33/1 is - it captures the prototype perfectly - and I do have a huge soft spot for Cromptons! Don't worry, as a model she's not failed!

Thanks guys - Dave, now BSL is going to be OO I'd love for some of my stock to come visiting! Perhaps 33019, 33108, 37013, green 37411, 58021 and 09007? It would make a great back drop for some brilliant photographs :)

I really should crack on and get the second half as finished and offer some alternative views of the layout! :)

Nice photos James! I especially like the weathered track - it looks particularly good in the first photo.

Thanks Matto...

Here is a close up with some notes...

A close up of the weathered track on the half of Paxton Road that is finished. This is Peco code 75. The sleepers are painted Matt Chocolate, Humbrol 98. The rail sides are 98 and 33 for the sidings and loop, and 98 plus lining orange for the running line. The ballast is Woodland Scenics fine, brown - with some sand from beaches in Pembrokeshire mixed in to the ballast on the running line. The grass is Silflor grass mats and static grass. The bushes are Woodland Scenics clusters in med green. The crash barrier is scratchbuilt in plasticard and the car park is Sandtex tester pot with sand sprinked on whilst it's wet.

No - it's 'out of the box' Peco Code 75. I say 'out of the box' as I did modify the pointwork by removing the odd diagonal timbers, and cutting the points in the crossing so that I could get a more realistic space between the running lines in the loop.

Now the old RMweb is back have a browse through my old layout thread and you can see the development smile.gif

Specifically this post for the pointwork modification:
