Last night I continued on with the guards van, I wanted a tail light but with no track power to use the van needs its own batteries. I didnt want them inside as that would mean a removable roof, so they had to go underneath. I also was mind full that the van would have to run veranda first on departure as there is no turntable, so I needed a light at both ends. To overcome this I fitted a switch with a centre off position, so either or neither lamp can be on. The switch will be on the backside so not seen from the viewing side of the layout. I realise that the unlit lamp wouldn't be there but life is a list of compromises.

The Guards van and to box vans have also had some weathering.
