Theirs a box of bits on the table

Right! back to that thing.

The reason for this blog is a small hope that it might provide the necessary push to those who like me......... have steered clear of some of the more varieties of plastic surgery, done with apparent ease, by some of the modellers on here.

Give me some bit's of wire and a bit of electrical current to tame and guide into certain devices and components and I'm as happy as a taxman in April!

But I have to admit to a degree of trepidation when it comes to fettling something together that ultimately has to look the part and fit in with all those bits of rolling stock that still smell fresh out of the box.

So hopefully this blog may help.

I managed to acquire a relatively cheap Bach'y 158 of Flea bay and set about separating the chassis from the body and more importantly removing the chassis detail. Most of the detail parts are just pushed into locating holes and came out fairly quickly and easily. But there are a couple of details which make up part of the chassis casting and they required the intervention of Mr Vice and Mr Hacksaw. However when all done, you have a bag of spare but potentially quite interesting detailing parts and a nicely weighted chassis with twin bogie drive ready for a bit more fettling.

My Mk3 of choice was a Hornby TFO in Virgin livery. Now OK I'm first to go with the fact that the Lima MK3 is the better and that with the visibility of the mechanism inside, a better choice would have been a Mk3 Buffet. However. Mk3 buffet's attract a bit of a premium, even at Ebay prices and the Hornby Mk3 is a body on a chassis type, much easier to work with and better suited to the project. Rather than Lima's roof and glass in a body kind'a thang!
