Work Experience with Chiltern Railways - Day 1
Hi Guys,
Well as you may well know, I'm doing my Work Experience with Chiltern Railways at their Aylesbury Depot. I started it today (Monday 26th April) and will be there for 2 weeks until the 7th May. So here's a run through my first day under the 'employment' of Chiltern Railways:
My Work Experience placement starts at 8:00am, so I got the train from Great Missenden Station at 7:14am, with it getting in at 7:30am. After hanging around the station for 15 minutes, I went over to the Depot to start my placement. Having met my supervisor and the Apprentice I was working with for the day, as well as getting my overalls for the day, I was taken on a Depot induction, this involved Health and Safety hazards around the site and a brief tour.
Once this was completed, My Apprentice and I went off to work on a Class 165. We started by replace a driver's side Door closing siren. This was followed by fixing lose and stiff arm rests, during this work I was just observing. Then a spot of Lunch! After this I was asked to replace some CCTV Hard Drives. I finished that and went back to my 165 to fix a faulty Air-conditioning unit.
By the time this was done, it was time for me to go back home, catching the 15:35 to London.
For those that are interseted, in the shed there was a few Class 165, a couple of Class 168's and a Wrexham and Shropshire
