Progress before my return to EM

No I havn't given up on the 2mm and hopefuly I'll be able to get back to it later in the year, but I have been working on my EM stock for the past month and I now require the space, so I've had to box up the 2mm whilst I do some work with an EM gauge layout, Morfa Mawr. http://www.rmweb.co....__1entry48479

This has a couple of exhibitions to get ready for, of which the first is STORMEx in August. http://www.rmweb.co...._1entry122363

I took a few photos of the 2mm today before packing away and although the quality is rather poor I'm affraid (fluorescent lighting), it will give you an idea of what has been done so far. I had hoped to of progressed a bit further, but I'm happy with what has been done and will look forward to getting back to the detail work at a later date, of which hopefuly we'll see it all come together.

A look at some of the part finished buildings that make up the backscene, these are buisness and retail premises of which most back on to the railway. I had a count up and these will require 126 windows and frames to be made for themhuh.gif

And then we come under the railway bridge to the front of the layout, where we still have a large unstarted area, the plan was for some terraced housing but this may change.

Next the signal box which sits just off the platform ramp, the signal is a Ratio item and is only temporaily for placement.

Looking along the line from the bridge end.

And looking the other way from the coal yard.

WOW! You've been busy Trevor - looks terrific, especially the trackwork.

I guess that means it won't be making an appearance next month at the EXPO then?

Thanks bcnPete, iak & 2mm Andy.

The past 5 or 6 months of modelling 2mm have been really enjoyable if not frustating, adapting to a smaller scale at times.

I think the back of the layout has been broken now and the more enjoyable part is to come, which will show the more fruitful results in its progress.

I still have a long way to go though with stock to be built or finished, along with a couple of fiddle yards to be built. So hopefully a few more progress reports will appear later in the year.smile.gif

I will be at Expo as a punter and looking forward to meeting people and seeing some excellent looking layouts. I didn't really understand on what you had to do for the Expo, so I got a little disjointed and lapsed a bit over the last couple of months, which was probably good for both me and the layout.wink.gif

Hi Trevor :)

I really want to add to the praise about the layout. That has really sprung from nowhere and as the others have said it looks amazing. It has echos of Wansbeck Road to it and I love all that urban grot. Its a shame its being packed away for now and I really hope it comes back oneday.

Thanks Missy

When I posted the photos and looked at the last one, I too thought Wansbeck Road!! although very inspirational , hopefully this was all was my own idea's, although both would be similair with coal traffic been their signature trains.

I'm sure there be more to report on the layout later in the year, but after a few continuous weeks on the layout, it's a nice relief to have a breakbiggrin.gif

Trevor,

Sorry for the late reply, but I have to echo the comments made above. It really does look the business, the levels and depth work really well in this scale and the colours are spot on. Thumbs up all round Mr Hale biggrin.gif

Thank you Bryn,

Much apreciatedsmile.gif

This weekend I have been refitting all the wheels back onto their locos and putting everything away, so at least I'll have an idea of where it all is when I want to carry on, If the weather is ok on Tuesday I'm hoping to get a few better pictures outside with some stock on the layout. So you may see a few more pictures during the week.

Catch you soon

Trevor.

Looking forward to the pictures, the more the better. If you're not at the showcase this weekend, I'll see you at Expo.

Just about to post some images up.

I don't think I'll be making DEMU for the second year running which is a shame, but funds won't allow both shows so i'll probably catch up at Expo.

Cheers
