I've been beavering away for the past year or so building a 1:32 (Gauge 1) layout for our annual October event at Shepshed,Leics.. which was held last Saturday. The general idea was to see what could be done on a 7ft 6 ins x 2ft baseboard in G1 similar to my previous O gauge layout 'Alexandra Yard' though that was 6ft x 1ft 10ins. Anyhow the attached photos show what has been achieved so far, the layout being far from finished as there is a LOT of small detail yet to be added. The theme is a small quay 'somewhere' in the UK c 1910 , home to a couple of my kit built Manning Wardle 0-6-o's and a few wagons (all of which are scratchbuilt). The great thing about layouts like this is you can tie yourself up in knots shunting wagons though, as I found out last Saturday, three link couplings can drive you to despair in any scale!!

Lovely and very atmospheric...I really like the wooden inset of the track, its a very nice contrast with the cobbles :icon_thumbsup2:

That's just sensational modelling ... and beautiful photos to go with it too.

Oh, and the textures and colours on the struuctures are very convincing also ... no doubt a positive when modelling to your scale.

 

I love the cobbles. Maybe you could give us a rundown on how you went about doing the cobbles so convincingly ? Please?

Thanks for the comments chaps.......the cobbles are a moulded latex sheet which I got from..www.kancali.com in the States . They do various scales from N to 1/35th which is the one I've used. It's fantastic stuff and saves you all the hours labouriously chipping away at plaster etc, the bits I laid were a couple of days work.

Superb, the gauge 1 models look solid, like they have real weight, makes it look so much more realistic.
