Looking stunning John. I am just blown away by how good this is. I know other people have mentioned other rolling stock that this might haul but have you considered doing a MK1 carriage? It would look just the part.

It's incredible to think that this was but a few pieces of white plasticard only a few days ago.

Nice one John...and definately the right colour too :D

Thankyou, Something interesting I have learnt about myself in this last few days of building the 25 is that I enjoy modelling something with a prototype much more than I realised. Over the past few years of being back in the hobby I realise now the best moments was copying something in real life. Layout wise it was making Mossley Terrace and rolling stock wise it has been this 25.

My dabbling in On30 satisfied a desire to build what I wanted but it isn't the same as trying to copy something that many other people will recognise. The research and digging to find things has been fun too, not to mention the help and advice from several forums from interested people.

So back to your question I think there will be a lot more "prototypical" modelling in the shed and less made up stock, which leads me to the question, "anyone know where I can find a decent drawing of a Mrk 1 coach ?"

Of course the dowside is with a shallow knowledge of prototypes I'll be asking a lot of questions !!

Thanks, glad you like it,

My neighbour called round this afternoon to drop off some welding wire to make the hand rails from, he didn't believe me that it started life as flat plastic sheets, so I had to show him some early pictures, which led to showing him some other peoples work on here. I think it dispelled his view of us "playing toy trains!"

If nothing else I hope I have shown that model railways don't have to be expensive my total build cost (excluding the playmo motor which I had) is less than £50 which I think is pretty good for a 24" G scale loco. Its not JLTRT quality but at a distance moving round the garden I think you can tell what it is.

Definitely John - it is more than a passing resemblance to Rat - it's superb! Awesome transformation. I've watched with keen interest! I think I'd shy away from a Mk1 - all those blooming windows! Wagons and a brake - much easier :)

A fair point ! I do hate windows,

But I have just fitted one ends worth

Any particular wagons you think would look fitting ?

I'd probably try a few Railfreight vans Jon - maybe an open or two... VAA/VDAs and an OBA? Quite an easy profile though not sure what you could use for the underframe?

Looking at what I have "in stock" these rather toy like coaches appear to hold no promise.

But take away the body an you are left with...

Buffer positions to low, steps need chopping, but other than that, they measure 260mm over buffer fixings which equates to 260 inches. Any possibilities ?
