Mk1 Suburban in G, test run.

From experience I have realised when scratch building its always a good idea to have frequent test runs, just in case you get something really wrong that renders the model inoperable. So last night after adding the thin skin top walls to the second side and also altering the bogie positions inwards to suit the underfloor framing a test was in order. I am pleased to report it ran first time no problems.

The Mk1 looks great so far - how strong is it, given that it's huge and has all those window cut-outs?

I should add that I've really enjoyed these videos - something about blue diesels in the garden being so unexpected, perhaps :)

Very steady camera work too... smile.gif I presume that it was "filmed 05/07/10" rather than in June as statedlaugh.gif . Great way to complete the detailed progress reports. I'm looking forward to seeing it painted and finsihed. Do you plan for a rake of these? Good thing to have in the garden... a rakerolleyes.gif

Will its incredibly strong, If I hold both ends I cant twist it along its length or even get it to flex. Mind you there is around 12 sheets of plasti-card in it so far. Unlike the prototype the seating is structural forming ribs (3 sheets of plastic in the seats alone.

Jon, yep filmed 05/07 where did June go !!! as for a rake, I think the only one I will be having is for the lawn !! The thoughts of doing that many windows again !! Unless It was a train made up of a single suburban and and a parcel van (No windows!)
