Slow but steady progress

Well it's better than no progress!

The main area of activity is the two and a half turn spiral. I've been batting around in my head the best way of doing this and on Friday whilst sitting on the train home (a couple beers after work included), I realised I hadn't been looking at the problem from the right angle. So now I've worked it out and the spiral is taking shape down-stairs (no dining table for a while, but hopefully that will be over by the middle of the week).

On Saturday it was off to get more cork tiles, then starting to glue them on the 3mm ply. That will give me two two feet square pieces, where I can then trim down the corners and finally cut out the centre.

For the rest I've been looking for various items such as buildings. So now I have a two track engine shed specifically for narrow gauge (with exactly the same distance between the tracks as what you get with Roco set track), a small halt called Holzmuhle, and a concrete underpass for a country lane. The first two are Auhagen and the latter is a Busch kit.

Of course this has meant some slight changes on the plan, as the loco depot was meant to be in the lower right corner. That has now been changed, to the left hand side and on the inside of the loop. This in turn means that the inner passing loop has had to become a bit shorter. But that's still ok for letting two of the longest consists pass.

Oh, yes, two things on order have arrived! The Zillertal Beer wagon and the ZB Steam train generator van, so about the only thing that's missing is Kristall wagon, but I can do without that due to space constraints! Still waiting for the ZB D11 though. Bachmann still have it as "July/August"....

I'm hoping that soon we will see the first signs of the D15 plus the push-pull coaches... Can't wait!
